HCD and IODF Fundamentals

    

Summary:
This course provides the fundamentals of the Hardware Configuration Dialogues (HCD) and IODF processing for an installation to create I/O definitions and to be capable of dynamically modifying their configurations to support changes in the hardware environment.

This course is designed for systems programmers and support personnel that have responsibility for managing and maintaining the I/O configuration environment.

• Planning I/O Configurations
• Dynamic Reconfiguration Managing and Initiating Changes
• Create an IODF Work File and Use it to Build a Production IODF.
• Creating HCD Configuration Reports
• IPL Processing using LOADxx Parm and IODF Definitions
• HCD Definitions and I/O Operation Usage
• Working with I/O Definition Files (IODF)

Prerequisites:
Students should be familiar with z/OS JCL, utilities, and TSO/ISPF.
