A Practical Introduction to Build System, Apache Buildr

In this presentation, Buildr comitter Alex Boisvert will introduce you to Apache Buildr - an open source build system for Java-based applications that allows you to write build tests using the Ruby scripting language.

Through examples, slides, and code demos, Alex will demonstrate what he believes are some of the advantages of Buildr over other XML-based build systems like Apache Ant or Apache Maven.

Other topics covered include:
  • Buildr: How it all started
  • Rake
  • Advantages of building with Ruby
  • Support for other Java-based languages
