Getting Started with Spring Boot

Spring Boot is the convention-over-configuration framework from the Spring team at Pivotal. It marries Spring’s flexibility with conventional, common sense defaults to make application development pleasant, approachable, and ready for production immediately.

Josh Long is a Spring developer advocate at Pivotal. He is the author of five books on Spring, two best-selling Safari marketplace videos, and is a contributor to many fine Spring projects (including Spring Boot).

In this video, he demos the power of Spring Boot, and talks about some of the team’s thoughts as they fleshed out the concepts to bring this idea to life.

“What can we do to make it easier for developers to get started, first of all, and then, what can we do to keep the agility, [and] increase the agility throughout the development workflow.”

Josh is active on Twitter (@starbuxman) and blogs regularly at http://spring.io/blog and http://joshlong.com.

This talk was recorded at the San Francisco Java Meetup, May 11th 2015, in downtown San Francisco.
