Introduction to Power BI

PT25832
Training Summary
This course is meant to serve as a primer for a student who is new to Power BI, and what it can do. It will include a basic tour of the Power BI desktop to how to build report/dashboard elements. If you are relatively familiar with these topics, please refer to the intermediate course. In this one-day course, you will learn how to navigate the Power BI desktop. You will interact with existing reports to demonstrate the capabilities of Power BI. You will see how slicers, drill down, drill through, buttons, bookmarks, and more interactions can provide dynamic and interactive reports and dashboards. You will also learn about workspaces and their contents and how to share reports with your peers. After the tutorial of the desktop, and how to interact with existing reports, you will start a basic lesson on how to build dashboard elements. This will include how to create text cards (a visual that displays a numeric calculation, be it a sum or average, or standard deviation) and display that numeric value with basic details on a dashboard. We will also look at basic graphics such as a simple chart, and how to apply slicers, filters, and drill-through capabilities (which take you to the details of what that chart was based on).
