This hands-on course provides the participant with the basic skills necessary to use the Linux operating system to run applications or to support application users. Basic Linux commands for manipulating files and managing processes are taught via lectures and lab exercises. The participant will learn to use the vi editor to create and modify files. Other lectures and labs are included to teach that participant how to customize his or her environment, as well as use Linux tools to manipulate data. This course also includes a lecture that explains how the Linux operating system fits into today's computing strategy.
There are no prerequisites for this course.

This course is designed for system and application end-users who have little or no experience with the Linux operating system or any operating system based on UNIX.
