This course is a comprehensive overview intended as an introduction to using IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM) to automate and support test planning and the organization and administration of testing activities to integrate those activities into a software development project. This course covers the test cycle from planning the test project, developing the various test artifacts, and integrating test activities with corresponding requirements and development artifacts and actions. The course focuses on using RQM to manage a test team’s activities, monitor testing progress, submit, and track defects, and report test results and status. A key to learning point is using RQM to implement test management activities that are fully integrated with requirements and specific development tasks throughout the activities defined in software development processes and application lifecycle management processes, with the emphasis on IBM Rational’s Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) product. This includes understanding how RQM integrates with other components of the Rational Team Concert that make up the CLM platform.
Before taking this course, students should have basic understanding of software testing concepts and terminology.
