The Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI®)

PT6160
Training Summary
The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) was created by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) to evaluate the capability of DoD contractors for developing quality software on cost and on schedule. It was then used extensively by industry to determine the maturity of their software development process, identify its weaknesses, and plan improvement actions. The new version of the model, the CMM Integrated builds on this legacy to incorporate system issues (NOT only software), technology and even some human resource concerns. The five levels of maturity of the staged representation and their Process Areas (PAs) are introduced in the context of their TQM origins. Level 2 (basic project management practices) is analyzed in depth. Numerous exercises help put the model in the context of the organization by performing gap analyses PA by PA.
