IBM Certified Specialist - Midrange Storage Technical Support V5 The IBM Midrange Storage Technical Specialist consults with customers to gather customer needs, participate in the design process, and select storage products. The specialist has broad industry knowledge of storage features and functions, industry-wide terminology, and specific IBM midrange storage solutions including software defined environments within the overall IBM portfolio. This specialist also has an understanding of competitive offerings in the midrange segment. The specialist has general knowledge of current and commonly encountered products.The IBM storage solutions included in this exam are: IBM Storwize V7000, V5000 and V7000 Unified; midrange tape libraries; SAN switch; DCS3700, DCS3860; IBM FlashSystem Product Family; Flash; and hybrid storage concepts. A basic understanding and general knowledge of IBM Storwize V3700; LTO; ProtecTIER Appliance; storage cloud; hybrid cloud and analytics; IBM Spectrum Accelerate; IBM Spectrum Virtualize; IBM Spectrum Control; IBM Spectrum Protect; VersaStack IBM components; and SDS concepts are also recommended.This specialist can perform the following tasks without assistance: determine product positioning including features and functions of various midrange products; gather customer business requirements; identify competitors' features for midrange products; position IBM midrange storage against competitive technologies; identify configuration tools; create basic configuration using configuration tools; understand the Technical Delivery Assessment (TDA) process; understand basic product licensing; document and understand a solution before presentation; and understand the RPQ/SCORE process. This specialist can perform the following tasks with assistance: architect and design the total solution; provide options for the IBM solution implementation; conduct a demo of the IBM solution including Q&A (with distributor, IBM); participate in the Technical Delivery Assessment (TDA); coordinate and participate in a Proof of Concept; gather customer BC/DR business requirements; conduct performance sizing and validation; TCO analysis; and map business requirements to technical requirements.This specialist should be familiar with the following resources: eConfig, Capacity Magic, Disk Magic, COMP database, IBM PartnerWorld (Business Partner)/Techline/CompeteCenter (IBM Internal), Comprestimator, System Storage Interoperability Center (SSIC), Storage Tier Advisory Tool (STAT), TCOnow!, IBM Systems Consolidation, hosted by Alinean, Brocade SAN Health, and Virtual Storage Center/IBM Spectrum Control. Recommended Prerequisite SkillsMinimum 12 months of general technical storage experience with midrange customers.
